About the paintings and their Parallax effect...

Multiple translucent panels are painted upon and stacked like a sandwich to create my three dimensional oil paintings. Each panel is carefully composed so that when they are stacked together, the content on the panels interact in a visually appealing way. The panels and this method of construction causes an interesting effect when viewing the paintings called parallax. From one angle the figures, the petals and even the landscape become obscured and may even disappear. As the viewer walks in front of the painting, the petals and figures move relative to one another. Check out the videos below for a tiny glimpse at the presence these paintings possess when viewed in person. Each painting takes about 3.5 weeks on average to complete.
